Isi Life Mein

A beautiful movie overall from Rajshri Productions with endearing moments and an interesting premise. Does well with the theme of performing arts and following your dreams, friendships and respectfully carrying forward Indian traditions to meet modern thoughts. The movie was not really made to be a high drama entertainer.  The story is simple but not frivolous. It is youthful and has the right progressive intentions. Despite some seeming weaknesses and aspects that could have been a little different, the film is meritorious on its strengths.

Ideas such as going into character to understand and find solutions towards challenges are presented well. Relations are showcased wisely with virtue and charm. The high points include the mother-daughter relationship, the character of RJ and the bonding that develops with her Dramatic Society (DS) friends with her talent and innocence, making of the play, friends coming together for the wedding preparations..It’s not really a love story about a battle on winning or finding love..but more about friendship, passion for theatre and fulfilling your interests.

The end ballet performance as part of the Taming of the Shrew -Reborn play looks good on screen with that music of ‘Tere pyar mein’ having a nice and elaborate starting tune. There are some good music pieces within some of the songs that go well with the movie and grow your interest on repeated listening.

Reviews from Critics

Filmfare

Mid-day (Mumbai)

Snippets of content from above reviews
Mid-day says "………Vidhi’s view of the world through the eyes of her characters is sweet and endearing. It’s heartwarming to see a film about family traditions, innocence and following your dreams, when every other film has a song in a foreign land with foreign models gyrating behind the lead pair. The music of the film is outstanding. Newcomer Akshay Oberoi is
confident and delivers. Sandeepa has pleasing screen presence. Prachee
Shah is endearing……

…………….What to do: If you’re a Rajshri fan, this one’s meant for you. It’s your ticket to the perfect world."

Filmfare says:"……And if you like twists and turns in your story look elsewhere. Conflict of any kind; emotional, romantic or even fundamental is absent completely. There’s so much of pristine goodness that it becomes unreal, almost surreal."

Some critics may not have been quite encouraging but many viewers of all ages in India and internationally have been appreciative. Rajshri has released the movie with limited prints only but go try it out for yourself at a big screen near you.
